Magnitude 6.3 quake off northeastern Japan

No tsunami warning was issued following earthquake, and no casualties reported

ANKARA (AA) – Japan was rattled by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake, U.S. officials announced Sunday.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake took place 38.6 kilometers (24 miles) beneath the ground, with its epicenter 54 km (33.6 mi) northeast of the ghost city of Namie, which was evacuated after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, caused when an earthquake was followed by a tsunami.

No tsunami warnings were issued following the earthquake, and there were no reports of casualties from Japanese officials.
