ANKARA (AA) - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck northeastern Japan on Tuesday, local media reported.
Japan’s Meteorological Agency announced that the powerful earthquake struck the Yamagata prefecture, which is close to the Honshu island, according to Kyodo News, a national news agency.
No casualties have been reported so far while the authorities issued a tsunami warning in the region following the quake.
Tsunami warnings were also issued for the Yamagata, Niigata and Ishikawa regions.
