ISTANBUL (AA) - A large volcano eruption shook Papua New Guinea on Tuesday, a Japanese news outlet reported.
The eruption took place on the northern coast of the Pacific nation, according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency.
Cited by the Tokyo-based agency Kyodo News, it said that it was unclear whether the eruption caused a tsunami powerful enough to reach Japan, roughly 4,000 kilometers (about 2,500 miles) north.
The report by the news agency added the incident occurred at around 7.50 p.m. local time (0950GMT).
