ANKARA (AA)- The leaders of Malaysian and Singapore discussed key bilateral issues, including border and maritime affairs, media reports said Sunday
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim from Malaysia and Singapore’s Lawrence Wong also discussed renewable energy and regional initiatives such as the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Power Grid in Singapore as the Malaysian prime minister wrapped up his one-day visit Saturday, Malaysia's state-run Bernama news agency reported.
Anwar also paid a courtesy call to Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam before flying home.
“We also reviewed ongoing projects, such as the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, set for completion by late 2026, and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which is expected to boost regional growth,” Anwar posted on Facebook.
He added that the visit will strengthen cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore for "mutual benefit."
Wong said he looked forward to continuing the close partnerships for the benefit of the people.
Anwar delivered an address to the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue, a major annual security summit.
