Man City get 7th consecutive victory in Premier League against Leeds

Cityzens extend their lead on top of league table to 37 points -- 4 points ahead of Liverpool

ANKARA (AA) - Manchester City hammered Leeds United 7-0 in the English Premier League week 17 game on Tuesday.

The Cityzens had already missed several chances when Phil Foden scored in the 8th minute at Etihad Stadium. This marked the 500th goal of the club under manager Josep Guardiola.

Five minutes later Jack Grealish's header to Riyad Mahrez's cross made it 2-0 for the Cityzens.

Kevin De Bruyne scored the third goal for his team in the 32nd minute.

Foden's left footed attempt missed the bottom right corner of the Leeds goal by inches minutes before the first half ended 3-0.

City did not back down in the second half either as Mahrez placed a classy shot in the left bottom corner of the goal and made it 4-0 in the 49th minute.

Mahrez created another goal chance in the 53rd minute as Ilkay Gundogan's shot to his visionary cross missed the opposition goal by inches.

Leeds missed their most dangerous goal attempt so far as Stuart Dallas aimed the ball to the crossbar in the 55th minute.

Jack Harrison of Leeds United missed another chance to take one back in the 59th minute.

Foden put the ball in the Leeds net in the 61st minute but the goal was disallowed by the referee.

Just one minute later, De Bruyne scored his second goal of the game as his right-footed screamer from a distance found the Leeds net.

Manchester City defender John Stones made it 6-0 in the 74th minute.

Another City defender, Nathan Ake, scored the final goal of the game four minutes later and the game ended 7-0.

With this victory, Manchester City which has 41 points, extended their lead on top of the league table to 4 points, ahead of Liverpool with 37 points.

Leeds United is placed 16th with 16 points in Premier League standings.
