Man detained after throwing eggs at UK’s king, queen consort

Neither King Charles III nor Queen Consort Camilla were struck by eggs

LONDON (AA) - A man was detained by police on Wednesday after throwing eggs at King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.

The Royal couple were on a walkabout in York, northeast England. Neither was hit by the eggs.

Local media reported that the man shouted that Britain was “built on the blood of slavery” before being apprehended by police.

He was also booed by the crowd that had gathered to see the king and queen consort.

The crowd also shouted “shame on you” and “God save the King”, according to reports.
