ISTANBUL (AA) - Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is planning to invest $60 - 65 billion in capital expenses for artificial intelligence, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Friday.
He said in a post on Facebook that 2025 will be a defining year for artificial intelligence, noting that Meta AI will be the leading assistant serving more than 1 billion people and Llama 4 (Large Language Model Meta AI) will become the leading state-of-the-art model.
He added that Meta will build an AI engineer that will start contributing increasing amounts of code to the firm's R&D efforts.
"To power this, Meta is building a 2GW+ datacenter that is so large it would cover a significant part of Manhattan.
"We'll bring online ~1GW of compute in '25 and we'll end the year with more than 1.3 million GPUs," he said.
He underlined that it is a massive effort and in the coming years it will drive Meta's core products and business, unlock historic innovation and extend American technology leadership.
