RABAT (AA) – Moroccan security forces have dismantled a Daesh cell in the North African country, according to the Interior Ministry.

In a statement on Friday, the ministry said six suspects had been detained in the northern city of Beni Mellal for links to the Daesh terrorist group.

The ministry said the suspects were “plotting to carry out terrorist schemes in the kingdom."

The operation resulted in seizing "electronic devices, books and publications that contain the extremist ideology of Daesh and incites violence in addition to melee weapons."

According to preliminary investigation, the suspects worked on recruiting youths to adopt their thoughts, which the ministry said undermine public security.
