ANKARA (AA) - Right-back Kieran Trippier extended his stay at Newcastle United for two years when he signed a new contract Friday.

"Newcastle United are delighted to announce Kieran Trippier has signed a contract extension, keeping the defender at the club until the summer of 2025," the Magpies said in a statement.

Trippier said he is very happy to stay for more seasons.

"I'm absolutely delighted that I've extended my contract here. I've got a lot of thank yous to make to the manager, owners, fans and my teammates.

"When I first arrived here, they made me feel so welcome and I want to help the club achieve great things. It's a positive moment for us players in the club and there's nowhere I'd rather be," said the English national.

Trippier, 32, joined Newcastle United from Spain's Atletico Madrid in January 2022.

He has six assists in 26 matches this season.

One of the integral parts of the team, Trippier helped Newcastle United place third in the ongoing English Premier League.

Trippier, who amassed 40 international caps for England, represented his nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before his return to England, Trippier helped Atletico Madrid win the 2021 Spanish La Liga title.

Trippier previously played for the English club Tottenham Hotspur from 2015 - 2019.
