ANKARA (AA) - Nicaragua has severed diplomatic ties with the Netherlands, the Central American country’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that the European country, with its "interventionist and neocolonial stance," has “insulted and continues to abuse Nicaraguan families.”

On Friday, condemning the Dutch “interference” in the country's affairs, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said he is unwilling to maintain relations with the Netherlands.
