ABUJA, Nigeria (AA) - Some 30 Turkish charity organizations sent 70,000 rations of meat to poor families in Niger during the recent Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
The foundations provided meat from nearly 2,000 cows in seven regions of Niger, distributing them to more than 20,000 needy families, the Director of the Turkish Red Crescent in Niger, Orhan Kilic, told Anadolu Agency on Thursday.
The foundations included the Diyanet foundation as well as the Istanbul-based Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), and aimed to provide some 70,000 rations of meat to poor Nigerien families, according to Safa Morgul, a member of the board of directors of the Sadakatasi (Charity Stone) association.
During the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha (11-15 Agust), the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay) provided meat to 4.5 million needy people across the globe.
