MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AA) - Nigeria's President Mohammadu Buhari resumed work on Wednesday after five days in quarantine in line with the national protocol on the coronavirus.

Buhari approved the constitution of a steering committee for the implementation of the new Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), according to presidential spokesman Femi Adesina.

"The primary responsibility of the steering committee shall be to guide the effective and timely implementation of the PIA in the course of transition to the petroleum industry envisaged in the reform program," said Adesina.

Buhari signed the law Monday while working from home.

He returned to Nigeria on Aug. 13 after nearly two weeks in London where he attended a global summit on financing education with officials of the British government.

He also underwent routine medical checks.
