Nobel Prize in Physics awarded jointly to 3 scientists

One half of 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics goes to James Peebles and other half jointly to Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz

ANKARA (AA) - The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to three scientists, James Peebles, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz.

"The 2019 #NobelPrize in Physics has been awarded with one half to James Peebles “for theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology” and the other half jointly to Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz “for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star,” Nobel Prize said in a tweet.

Jim Peebles is a Canadian-American physicist and theoretical cosmologist who is currently the Albert Einstein Professor Emeritus of Science at Princeton University.

Mayor and Queloz are Swiss scientists who jointly discovered the first exoplanet in the orbit of a sun-like star in 1995.

Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded since 1901 and a total of 209 scientists received the award.
