Obama offers condolences over Istanbul airport attack

US president's phone call to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan day after terror assault

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to U.S. President Barack Obama Wednesday, with the latter offering his condolences over the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s main airport.

According to an official in Erdogan’s office, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media, Obama strongly condemned Tuesday night's attack, in which 41 were killed and which has been attributed to Daesh.
