Over 52 kg of marijuana seized in southern Turkey

Driver of vehicle carrying drugs remanded in Adana province

ADANA, Turkey (AA) - Police seized Tuesday over 52 kilograms (114 pounds) of marijuana in southern Turkey, while a suspect was remanded in custody, according to a security source.

Anti-narcotic teams of police in Adana province searched a suspicious vehicle in the city center, said the source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The teams found the marijuana and 70,000 illicit pills hidden under the vehicle's backseat.

The driver of the vehicle, identified by the initials Z.K., 42, was arrested, said the source.

He was then remanded in custody by a court in the province.
