Pakistan welcomes Anadolu Agency office launch

Anadolu Agency opened its office in Islamabad this week

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Journalists, officials and civil society representatives in Pakistan welcomed Anadolu Agency to the country.

All major news outlets covered the inauguration of its Islamabad office and a journalist meet-up in port city Karachi this week.

Mustafa Yurdakul, Turkey's ambassador to Islamabad, tweeted: "Inaugurated @anadoluagency Islamabad office with @fawadchaudhry. More accurate, more timely, genuine news reflecting the true image of #Pakistan will be shared with the world through a wide-spread global network."

In a separate statement, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said: "We welcome Anadolu Agency in Pakistan. Opening of its office in Islamabad is proof that now Pakistan is open to the world."

Islamabad-based journalist Muhammad Daud Khan tweeted: "Welcome to @anadoluagency for inaugurating his Bureau in Islamabad today."

Lahore-based political analyst Ibrahim Kazi said: "Anadolu Agency has made a remarkable footprint in the global news industry. The inauguration of its Pakistan office is yet another achievement in 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Turkey."

The new office is located at a short distance from the parliament building and other key government offices with the aim to have its finger on the pulse of current affairs in Pakistan.
