GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - The Palestinian Authority withdrew from an agreement with Qatar on the payment of salaries to workers in the Gaza Strip under an Israeli blockade, according to a Qatari official on Friday.

“The Palestinian Authority informed us that it withdrew from the agreement on the transfer of Qatari aid to bank affiliated with the Palestinian Monetary Authority in Gaza and the payment of salaries to the employees in the city,” Mohammed Al-Emadi, the head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, said in a statement.

The Palestinian Authority withdrew from the deal due to "concerns for legal proceedings and accusations that banks support terrorism,” he said.

Al-Emadi noted that the Qatari Committee is working to resolve the problem and find an alternative to distribute ais to workers in Gaza.

On Sept. 6, Al-Emadi announced that deal was reached between the two sides to restore peace in the Gaza Strip under the Israeli blockade.
