Palestine's Abbas condemns Israeli aggression on Gaza

'Silence on Israel's crimes and violations of international law encourages it to continue its crimes,' says Mahmoud Abbas

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday condemned the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza, according to an official statement.

Abbas called upon the international community to provide protection to the Palestinian people.

He said that “the silence on Israel's crimes and violations of international law encourages it to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people.”

The Israeli raids followed Friday's escalation when an Israeli air raid targeted the strip, leaving four Palestinians martyred and another 51 wounded.

Since Friday, seven Palestinians have been martyred -- by Israeli airstrikes -- across the blockaded territory.
