RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday had a brief phone conversation with Jordan’s King Abdullah II to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
According to Palestine’s official WAFA news agency, Abbas also extended his best wishes to the Jordanian king, government and people.
Jordan has been rocked by protests since the government approved an amended version of a tax bill last month that would, if passed, substantially raise income taxes.
On Monday, Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki tendered his resignation following several days of street demonstrations against the unpopular tax bill.
