RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Palestinian municipal elections will be held across the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Oct. 8, the Palestinian Council of Ministers announced Tuesday.
"The government has tasked the electoral commission and local government ministry with preparing for the polls," the council said in a statement.
Additional details about the electoral process, it added, would soon be announced.
Local elections are expected to be held concurrently in both the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The last Palestinian municipal elections were held in 2012 in 340 constituencies of the West Bank. They were not held in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, however.
