Paralympic Turkish swimmer becomes world no. 4

Sumeyye Boyaci comes in fourth at Paralympic World Championship in Mexico City

ESKISEHIR, Turkey (AA) - Fourteen-year-old Sumeyye Boyaci came in fourth in the Paralympic Swimming Championships, the Eskisehir Greater Municipality announced Tuesday.

Boyaci, a swimmer with the city's Youth and Sports Club, won the honor at the 2017 Para Sport Festival which started Saturday in Mexico City, Mexico.

Boyaci ranked fourth in the 50m backstroke event with a time of 46.57 seconds, missing a medal by only split seconds.

Two months ago, Boyaci won silver and bronze medals in the European Paralympic Youth Games, according to the statement.

The seven-day Para Sport Festival is due to wrap up on Dec. 8.
