Pavard's long-range strike leads France to narrow win over Ireland

Les Blues are at top of Group B with 6 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - France secured a narrow win over Ireland with a long-range finish from Benjamin Pavard in their second European qualifier on Monday.

Playing at Dublin's Aviva Stadium, the Bayern Munich star’s 50th minute goal led Les Blues to an away victory in the EURO 2024 qualification round Group B match.

The Netherlands claimed the first Group B win against Gibraltar 3-0 at Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip) in Rotterdam as Memphis Depay scored the opener and Nathan Ake netted twice in the second half.

France are at the top of the group with six points while Greece, who have a match in hand, are second with three points and the Netherlands are third with three points.

Group B:

Netherlands - Gibraltar: 3-0

Ireland - France: 0-1

Group E:

Moldova - Czech Rep. : 0-0

Poland - Albania: 1-0

Group F:

Austria - Estonia: 2-1

Sweden - Azerbaijan: 5-0

Group G:

Hungary - Bulgaria: 3-0

Montenegro - Serbia: 0-2
