WASHINGTON (AA) – The Pentagon late Saturday rejected media claims that U.S. soldiers at a PYD camp in Syria had been killed in an explosion.

Earlier Saturday, some media reports claimed five U.S. soldiers and 2 PKK terrorists were killed in a blast which ripped through a PYD camp in Hasakah province, northeastern Syria.

"We are aware of the report and can confirm no U.S. service-members have been killed in Syria," a Pentagon official who wanted to remain anonymous told Anadolu Agency.

The PKK and its Syrian offshoot the PYD are both listed as terrorist groups by Turkey although the U.S. and EU only view the PKK as a terrorist organization.
