Philippines: Over 220 more cops contract coronavirus

Some 4,785 police officers have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, 16 have died, local media reports

ANKARA (AA) - At least 223 more police officers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Philippines, state-run media reported on Wednesday.

The number of infections among police personnel is now up to 4,785, including 16 deaths and 3,135 recoveries, according to the Philippine News Agency.

The country remains the hardest hit among member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

There were 3,281 new cases reported in the country on Tuesday, raising the overall count to 241,987, according to the Health Ministry.

At least 3,916 patients have died in the country to date, while 185,178 have recovered.
