SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) – The security forces on Saturday killed one PKK terrorist and wounded another in a clash in southeastern Turkey, according to a security source.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said the PKK terrorists attacked a police station located in Ataturk neighborhood of Sirnak province.
One police officer was also injured in the ensuing clash and rushed to Sirnak State Hospital.
A large-scale operation was underway to nab the terrorists.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 300 civilians and nearly 850 security personnel have been martyred. Around 9,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
