ANKARA (AA) - A PKK/KCK terrorist has surrendered to Turkish security forces, the country's Interior Ministry said Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said the terrorist had turned themself in to security forces in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province as a result of persuasive efforts by police and gendarmerie forces.
It noted that the surrendered terrorists had joined the terror group in 2014 and operated in Iraq.
With the latest addition, the number of terrorists who surrendered through persuasion in 2020 rose to 204, the statement added.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
