Police seize over 500 kg of heroin in Turkey

Illicit drug confiscated in anti-narcotic operations in Hakkari, says interior minister

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish police seized some 515 kilograms (1,135 pounds) of heroin, the country's interior minister announced early Friday.

The illicit drug was confiscated in the southeastern Hakkari province, Suleyman Soylu said on Twitter, posting a photo of the contraband.

In 2021, more than 7.82 tons (over 17,000 pounds) of heroin was seized, Soylu also said.
