TRABZON, Turkey (AA) - A police officer was wounded in a clash with PKK terrorists in the northern Turkish province of Trabzon, the governor’s office said Friday.
The wounded officer was hospitalized following the incident in Cosandere, a mountain village in the Black Sea region.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
