ISTANBUL (AA) - Poland's National Security Bureau (BBN) said Saturday that several dozen objects entered Polish airspace from Belarus overnight.
"President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki is being kept continuously informed (...) about the course and consequences of the overnight incursion of several dozen objects from Belarusian territory," BBN wrote on US social media platform X.
Recalling that 59 objects had entered Polish airspace from Belarus on Dec. 24-25, BBN noted that it "does not rule out that we are dealing with a provocation disguised as smuggling activity."
According to Polish broadcaster TVP World, police and border guards recovered nine weather balloons in eastern Poland on Saturday morning, allegedly used to smuggle cigarettes from Belarus.
