ISTANBUL (AA) – The annual consumer inflation rate in Portugal was at 8.9% in August, dropping from 9.1% in July, according to latest data released on Monday.
“The annual rate of change of the index for energy products decreased to 24.0% (31.2% in July 2022) and the rate for unprocessed food was 15.4% (13.2% in the previous month),” read a report from the country’s statistical office.
The main contributors to inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, it added.
The main downward contribution came from changes in prices in health, the report said.
