Private plane crashes in western India

Deputy chief minister of Maharashtra among those on board, say officials

NEW DELHI (AA) - A chartered plane crashed early Wednesday in India’s western state of Maharashtra, officials said.

The plane, carrying Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar and others, crashed in Baramati, said public broadcaster All India Radio.

“Rescue operations are currently underway at the crash site,” it added.
