Pro-West Nicusor Dan leads with over 54% of vote in Romanian presidential election runoff: Exit polls

Turnout in election exceeded 64%, reports local media

ATHENS (AA)— Pro-West candidate Nicusor Dan is leading with over 54% of the vote in the Romanian election runoff, early exit polls indicated on Sunday night.

According to the CURS’s exit poll, Dan is leading with 54.1% in the presidential race against far-right candidate George Simion, announced broadcaster Antena3.

Another poll by Avant-garde showed Dan gathered 54.9% of the vote against Simion’s 45.1%.

Citing the country’s central election authority, the broadcaster noted that the turnout rate exceeded 64%.
