Protesters in Vienna denounce Israeli attacks on Gaza, Iran

Demonstrators call out double standards, demand end to aggression

VIENNA (AA) - Protesters gathered in Austria’s capital Thursday to condemn Israel's military actions in both Gaza and Iran, urging governments to break their silence on what they called unjust aggression.

Waving Palestinian and Iranian flags, they marched down Vienna's central Mariahilfer Strasse shopping street chanting slogans such as "Free Palestine," "No to genocide in Gaza" and "Hands off Iran."

One of the organizers, Amina, said people from different faiths and ethnicities united to oppose the injustice playing out in full view of the world.

"We see live, 24/7, who the aggressor is," she said, accusing some of remaining silent about Israel acting like "a terrorist state and spreading destruction."

Amina also condemned the framing of Gazans as terrorists, pointing out that more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed and calling such portrayals "a disgrace."

Iranian activist Paria Jazayeri reminded the crowd that Iran is a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and is regularly inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has repeatedly confirmed that Iran has no nuclear weapons program.

She added that Israel is the only nuclear power in the region, is not a signatory to the NPT, refuses inspections and attacks its neighbors without clear justification.

Jazayeri questioned the international community’s double standards and said this is "not just about Iran -- it’s about global justice, consistency and accountability."

She added that true peace is only possible through fair, impartial and equal treatment in global affairs.
