ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday dismissed Mikhail Bogdanov from the position of deputy foreign minister and also relieved him of his duties as special presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa, according to official decrees published on the government portal.

Bogdanov had long served as one of Moscow’s key envoys in the Arab world, frequently leading diplomatic efforts in Syria, Libya, and the wider region. No reason for his dismissal was given.

He held both posts for more than a decade and was considered a central figure in Russia’s outreach to the Middle East and Africa.
