ISTANBUL (AA) – Qatar on Tuesday confirmed the departure of some personnel from Al Udeid Air Base due to rising tensions in the region.
“Such measures are being undertaken in response to the current regional tensions,” the International Media Office said in a statement.
The office said the Qatari authorities continue to implement all necessary measures to safeguard the security and safety of its citizens and residents as a top priority, “including actions related to the protection of critical infrastructure and military facilities.”
“Should any developments arise, it will be communicated through the official designated channels,” it added.
The move comes amid reports of a possible US strike on Iran, where anti-government protests have been taking place since late last month.
