DOHA (AA) – Qatar on Thursday delivered 24 armored military-personnel carriers -- on three C-17 military planes -- to Burkina Faso.

According to a statement released by Qatar’s military, the deliveries come as part of Doha’s efforts “to support peace and stability” in the small West African state.

These efforts, the statement reads, “will strengthen international anti-terrorism initiatives and ensure security -- not only in Burkina Faso, but also in other West African countries”.

Along with an accompanying delegation of Qatari officials, the deliveries were received at Ouagadougou’s international airport by Burkina Faso Defense Minister Cherif Sy.

Delegation members have also since met with Burkina Faso Prime Minister Christophe Joseph Marie Dabiré.
