DOHA/ISTANBUL (AA)— Qatar and Indonesia have agreed to create a $4 billion joint investment fund, with equal contributions from both countries.
The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting between Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday in the Qatari capital of Doha.
According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economics and investment, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The news agency added that it was agreed during the talks to establish a joint investment fund worth $4 billion, equally financed by the State of Qatar and the Republic of Indonesia.
Trade volume between Qatar and Indonesia reached 4.13 billion Qatari riyals (approximately $1.14 billion) in the past year.
President Prabowo began his official visit to Doha on Saturday, marking the fourth stop in his Middle East tour, which has included the UAE, Türkiye, and Egypt.
