ANKARA (AA) - Twenty-five international reporters began Anadolu Agency’s 13th War Journalism training program on Monday.
The intensive Ankara-based program is backed by Turkey's police force, military, emergency services, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and public order bodies.
Journalists from Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kenya, Kosovo, Ethiopia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Serbia will take part in the 12-day program which deals with personal security, teaches first aid and also how to survive chemical and biological attacks in the field.
Speaking at an opening ceremony at Turkey’s Police Academy, Anadolu Agency News Academy Deputy Coordinator Hayri Cetinkus said journalists faced life-threatening conditions when covering wars and natural disasters.
"As a principle, Anadolu Agency is not sending journalists who do not have war journalism certificates to hot zones," Cetinkus said.
