No group has claimed responsibility for the attack

CAIRO (AA) – An Egyptian policeman was killed and four others were injured by a roadside bomb explosion in southern Cairo on Sunday, according to the country's Interior Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said the bomb went off as a vehicle belonging to the Central Security Forces carrying a group of officers and conscripts was passing in Maadi suburb.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Last month, three policemen were killed in a militant attack on a security patrol east of Cairo.

A month earlier, at least 29 people were killed in an attack claimed by Daesh terrorist group on a vehicle carrying Christian Copts in Minya, south of Cairo.

Egyptian authorities imposed a three-month state of emergency in April in the wake of two church attacks claimed by Daesh in northern Egypt, killing at least 46 people and injuring scores.
