JERUSALEM (AA) - Mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip struck a military post in southern Israel without causing casualties, the Israeli army said Thursday.
"Several mortar shells were fired at a military post north of the Gaza Strip [in southern Israel] without causing injuries," Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adarai said in a statement.
In the immediate wake of the incident, he added, air-raid sirens were sounded in Israeli towns located close to the coastal enclave.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the alleged rocket attack, while Palestinian official have yet to issue a comment on the army’s assertions.
