YALOVA, Turkey (AA) - A Roma holocaust memorial was inaugurated on Friday in the northwestern Turkish province of Yalova.
“I’m happy to be part of such an event, and I’m proud to work on such memorials,” Mayor of Yalova province said. He wished the earth never experience such genocide in future.
Kerem Koyuncu, the head of Romani youth association, said that the memorial will create awareness against such genocides.
An estimated 500,000 Romani were killed during the World War II according to historical sources.
