ATHENS (AA) - Romania hailed on Wednesday the US-brokered deals between Ukraine and Russia on safe navigation in the Black Sea and a mutual halt to attacks on energy infrastructure.

The Foreign Ministry welcomed the deals as “a promising step.” and said, “Extremely important that these are fully, consistently & in good faith implemented by all sides. Achieving a just & enduring peace is fundamental end point.”

The ministry reaffirmed that Romania would continue to support Ukraine until a just and lasting peace is achieved.

The White House said Tuesday that Russia and the US agreed to “ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea” following talks in Saudi Arabia.

It said the US would help restore Russia’s access to world markets for agriculture and fertilizer exports, and both countries agreed to develop measures to ban strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine.

A statement from the Kremlin confirmed the agreements in Riyadh, including ensuring the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, as well as Washington’s help in restoring Moscow’s exports of agricultural products and fertilizers.
