Romania's new government wins parliamentary confidence vote

New Cabinet receives 301 votes in favor, 9 against

ISTANBUL (AA) - Romania's new coalition government won a parliamentary confidence vote Monday, according to broadcaster Digi 24.

The new government led by Ilie Bolojan received 301 votes in favor and nine against, ending 47 days of interim rule.

The ministers of the new Cabinet also took their oath.

On Friday, Romanian President Nicusor Dan appointed senior liberal politician Ilie Bolojan to the premiership.

Bolojan, 56, leader of the centrist, liberal National Liberal Party (PNL), previously acted as head of the Romanian Senate and interim president of the country from February to May.
