ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia on Wednesday claimed that its forces have recaptured the settlements of Orlovka and Pogrebki in the Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops had entered in early August 2024.
In a statement, the Defense Ministry provided updates on the ongoing operations in the region, noting that clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces continue.
“As a result of offensives by the Northern Military Grouping, the settlements of Orlovka and Pogrebki have been reclaimed,” the statement said.
Last week, Russian Deputy Chief of General Staff Sergey Rudskoy stated that Russian forces regained 64% of the territory previously captured by Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region.
Fighting between the two sides has persisted since Ukrainian forces entered Russian territory in the Kursk region on Aug. 6, 2024.
