MOSCOW (AA) – Russia on Wednesday destroyed large shipments of the Western weapons in Ukraine’s Zaporozhizhia region, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed.

“High-precision long-range sea-based Kalibr missiles destroyed hangars with a large batch of foreign weapons and ammunition, supplied by the US and European countries for Ukrainian troops on the territory of the Zaporozhizhia Aluminum Plant,” the ministry's spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing in Moscow.

Meanwhile, the aviation hit 59 objects of Ukraine's military infrastructure last night, including 50 areas of concentration of manpower and Ukrainian military equipment, four warehouses with weapons and ammunition, and a Buk-M1 air defense system, Konashenkov added.

Over 120 nationalists were neutralized and 35 armored vehicles and automobiles were destroyed in the strikes, he said.

The Strategic Rocket Forces struck 572 sites, including 432 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, 67 artillery positions, two batteries of multiple rocket launchers, and seven ammunition depots, the spokesman continued.

The air defense systems also downed 18 unmanned aerial vehicles and a Tochka-U missile, he said.

“In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 141 aircraft, 110 helicopters, 607 unmanned aerial vehicles, 273 air defense systems, 2,596 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 296 multiple rocket launchers, 1,134 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 2,413 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed,” he said.

At least 2,729 civilians have been killed and 3,111 others injured in Ukraine since the war started on Feb. 24, according to UN estimates. The true toll is feared to be much higher.
