DONETSK, Ukraine (AA) - Russia claimed that its so-called administration building in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region was attacked by Ukrainian troops Sunday morning.
Alexey Kulemzin, the so-called mayor of Donetsk, which is controlled by Russia, said on Telegram that the Ukrainian army attacked the region with missiles.
Three US-made HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) missiles were launched, he said, adding that one of the missiles hit the administrative building of the city.
Noting that the building was "seriously" damaged, he said necessary precautions were taken.
It was also reported that two people were injured in the incident.
Donetsk is one of four Ukrainian regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, and Kherson, where Moscow-backed referendums were held last month to annex parts of eastern Ukraine in violation of international law.
