MOSCOW (AA) - Russia hinted on Wednesday that the dates of a likely third round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul are to be announced by the head of the Russian delegation for the talks.

Responding to an Anadolu question at a press briefing in Moscow, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: "First and foremost, follow updates provided by Mr. (Vladimir) Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation."

She added that when the third round of the Russia-Ukraine talks will take place are among the most-discussed issues now.

"We will certainly keep you informed as soon as corresponding agreements are reached," she promised.

So far, two rounds of direct Russia-Ukraine peace talks have been held in Istanbul, where the sides managed to reach a number of important humanitarian agreements.

Preparations for a third session are said to be underway. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he asked his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan to provide an opportunity to meet in Istanbul again.

Türkiye has advocated for a negotiated settlement to the Russia-Ukraine war from its very beginning, including offering to host peace talks on Turkish soil for Moscow and Kyiv, both of which it enjoys good relations with.
