MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday the start of Laros-2025, a joint military exercise with Laos.
The opening ceremony took place in the Laos capital Vientiane, the ministry said in a statement.
“The event marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Laos and the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic,” it said.
During the exercise, servicemen of the Lao People’s Army will practice all stages of practical actions within unified combat formations with units of the Russian Eastern Military District.
“The exercise is held under the slogan ‘Shoulder-to-shoulder for Peace and Security,’ symbolizing the strengthening of military cooperation between the two countries,” the ministry said.
The drill will continue until Sept. 25, the statement said, without specifying how many servicemen will be engaged.
