MOSCOW (AA) - Russia may suspend its double taxation agreements with "unfriendly" countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry and Finance Ministry made a proposal to the President of the Russian Federation to issue a decree on the suspension of double taxation agreements with all countries that have imposed unilateral economic restrictive measures against Russia,” a Foreign Ministry statement said.
The ministry said that since 2022 the Western countries have been imposing sanctions on Russia.
Last month, the EU put Russia on the list of non-cooperative jurisdictions in the tax sphere.
The ministry said that such actions are "a violation of international law, which gives Russia grounds for introducing retaliatory measures."
"It is proposed to suspend the validity of these (double taxation) agreements until the restoration of the violated rights of Russia," it said.
