ISTANBUL (AA) – Two people were killed after a drone strike set a private home on fire overnight in the Moscow region, Governor Andrei Vorobyov announced Monday.

“Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: two people died in a fire in a private home,” Vorobyov said on Telegram, extending condolences to the victims’ families.

He said Russian air defense units intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and Kolomna, adding that several buildings in Voskresensk sustained damage to windows and facades while street lighting was disrupted.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Vorobyov stressed that temporary housing and assistance would be provided to affected residents.

Drone attacks on Russian regions near the capital and border areas have increased in recent months, with Moscow claiming Ukrainian forces are behind the strikes. Ukraine has not responded to the claims yet.
